Desk The Buying Guide You Need- By: Annie Deakin

Description : We have the misfortune of going through the ritual of buying a desk for our study. We call it misfortune because if you don t have any experience in buying furniture, you find yourself lost for the first time. Get in touch with a decorator, a saner person would suggest but for a lone piece of furniture it seems too extravagant and I can save money on the decorator and buy a nicer desk. Therefore, we went along all buy ourselves and successfully found a desk and as well as many valuable lessons which I am going to share with you.

First, you need to decide whether you want to buy an office desk for working or do you want to buy a desk that will hold your Computer. Although, in both cases the essentials are the same but you will be surprised to know the even the computer desk comes in variations of being Executive or simply for personal use.

Let s not be that pessimistic and think of it as a way to explore the world of desks. Keeping in mind the size of your room, think how much of the space you can allow the desk to cover. If you have a huge room, it is probably a good idea to get a pretty big desk because the more space the easier to work. The down side is it gives you a good chance to clutter your desks. Try matching it with the scheme of the rest of the furniture and the shape of the furniture.

You have to keep in the mind what you are going to use the desk for? If it is for your PC, then it should have a keyboard shelf and a mouse shelf and it should also have holes for cables that would go from it to the socket.

This will not make a mess of wires around your PC and you will have organized cables. Also, if you have a printer and a router, be sure to have their spaces as well unless you want a flat desk and want to place everything on the same level instead of shelves.

For office desks, try not to find a desk with lot of shelves and it will make you keep all your files and documents in the desk and it will be in a disorganized array. If you have a lot of documents and files, keep the current ones on the desk and buy a cabinet instead for archiving old files.

Try buying a desk with three drawers at max. Also, for any type of desk try to find an adjustable height desk which might cost more than others but will be more flexible for you especially if you have to be at the desk for long hours.

One thing is for sure, if you are going to buy a desk, any type, and not going to keep in organized, then it is silly to waste money on a desk as you can sit on the floor and do the same work. Makes sense, doesn t it?
